== 1. Why Sell Products on eBay ==

According to eBay's Company Overview Page...

http://pages.ebay.com/community/aboutebay/overview/index.html

eBay is The World's Online MarketplaceTM for the sale of goods
and services by a diverse community of individuals and businesses.
Today, the eBay community includes tens of millions of registered
members from around the world. People spend more time on eBay than
any other online site, making it the most popular shopping
destination on the Internet. Furthermore, on any given day, there
are more than 16 million items listed on eBay across 27,000
categories. In 2002, eBay members transacted $14.87 billion in
annualized gross merchandise sales (GMS, the value of goods sold
on eBay).

eBay also has a global presence with local sites that serve
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland,
Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. In addition,
eBay has a presence in Latin America and China through its
investments in MercadoLibre.com and EachNet, respectively.

With such a global presence there are plenty of opportunities for
our foreign subscribers. A good example is buying wholesale
direct from your country then cross-selling to another country
through eBay. I've bought soccer jerseys and other clothing items
from Malaysia and Indonesia, for example, where Nike factories are
located and where the seller can acquire the material the cheapest
and make the most profit while I got the best deal possible!

== 2. What Sells Well On eBay ==

From my experience you can make a good profit off of eBay if you:

1. Buy products very cheap giving you the ability to resell them
for profit on eBay. Don't forget to check out our wholesaling,
government auction, and garage sale articles for more
information on this.

2. If you don't have the money to buy products then consider
dropshipping. You can make good money by selling items above
wholesale price and then having the dropshipper ship the
product to your customer with your shipping label on the
package making it seem like it came directly from you. You
won't make as much money with this method compared to other
methods but it is a good alternative as it is a 'no money
down' method. Our 'Selling Products You Don't Own Article'
covers this in detail and our 'Profit By Buying in Volume'
article gives you a list of wholesale and dropship suppliers.

3. Sell products that you either create on your own, or products
that have an unlimited distribution such as software with
resell rights. Selling information products with resell rights
is a good way to build up your eBay rating since it doesn't
matter how cheap you sell them since you are interested only in
building up your rating, and since you don't need to ship them,
etc.

4. Sell antiques or unique items. Remember the magazine covers
that we wrote about in our 'Garage Sale Riches' article? Try
typing in 'magazine cover' into the eBay search box and you'll
be surprised by how many covers sell for more then $9.95 a
piece we even gave you an example that sold for $39.95! You can
find old magazines and other goodies from garage sales quite
cheap!

-- Do Some Research --

You can find a niche market on eBay simply by doing research on
eBay. Find a category on eBay that interests you and then skim
through all the items until you find a particular product that
interests you. Monitor the seller and see if they sell the
product in mass this will let you know that they probably have a
supplier they get the product from. Also, monitor if they are
making good money off of the product by watching how well their
product sells. Make sure to check how intersted ebay buyers are
with the product. Is the buyer selling the majority of the product
they put up for auction?

If you are interested in the product try contacting the seller
and asking them to mentor you stating that you admire their success.
An alternative strategy is to visit eBay's group section, by
clicking the people button on eBay's header menu, and looking for a
group near you.

You can also consider checking out eBay's hot sellers page to find out what's selling well on eBay! If these items are selling well for other sellers then they will undoubtedly sell well for you.

== 3. How to Get Started ==

1.) Read over our articles and develop a plan for acquiring
products to sell.

2.) Do research on eBay to see how the products that interest you
are selling. Don't be discouraged if a product you are
interested doesn't seem to be selling well you can still stand
out to buyers if you can acquire the product cheap enough and
can undersell all other sellers.

3.) Sign up for an eBay account if you don't have one already.

4.) Sign up for a FREE merchant account preferably PayPal since
they are owned by eBay. You will need them for online
transactions

5.) Begin listing your products and sitback and make a nice profit. Our
next article will concentrate on selling strategies.
