== 1. Eww, You Want Me To Dig Through Trash? ==

Well no, not exactly! We're not talking about jumping into a
dumpster with decomposing material and taking a look around. We
are speaking of treasures that are no longer wanted by their
owner left by a curb side or a dumpster, for example.

Just think about how many times you have seen perfectly good
items left out by the curb for trash pick up. Did you ever think
about picking them up and refurbishing/cleaning the item, if need
be, and then reselling it?

It always amazes me what perfectly good items I see just laying
out to be thrown away. I've come across bikes, computer equipment,
pots/pans, suitcases, textbooks, etc. Which I promptly turned
around and sold on eBay, classified ads, or through other means.
I also come across items that I donate to charity such as clothes
and canned goods.

Developed countries are quite wealthy and thus at times wasteful.
Or, maybe it's because many people haven't figured out how to
make money off of goods they don't want anymore? Irregardless,
a big part of entrepreneurship is being able to take advantage of
the opportunities that you come across.

== 2. Playing Double-0-7 ==

Picking up other peoples' junk can be quite fun! And, if you
don't want to look like a derelict I suggest you get a little
stealthy and sneaky.

Figure out what the trash schedule is then go for a jog or maybe
ride a bike around your neighborhood keeping an eye out for
quality items that have been thrown out on the night before pick
up day. Think from the perspective of potential buyer instead of
a seller, this should be something you do whenever you want to
sell something, as this will help you find quality products.

There are two techniques you can now use to acquire the products
that you spy after a trip around the neighborhood. You could
simply go knock on the door of the home owner and offer to take
the product off their hands, or you could wait for an opportune
time to take the product such as after nightfall. Hey they are
throwing it away and obviously don't want it! In the case of
asking to take the product off the owner's hands just make sure
that you don't act too interested so they don't decide to try to
sell the product to you instead. You can also try to figure out
more details of the product like if it still works, if it's an
electric product, etc. Just be creative and again act like you're
doing them a favor.

== 3. Too Much For You to Handle? Here's Another Method... ==

Ok, so snatching unwanted goods or negotiating with the junk owner
isn't your cup of tea. We can understand as it seems a little too
out there, but often times entrepreneurs are a little crazy by
societies norms or 'box' that's why we can break free from them or
it. Here's a much easier method...but first, how do people get rid
of what they deem to be their good junk?

Garage sales* This is a great way to make money using the good
old buy low, sell high technique. People who run garage sales are
eager to get their junk off their hands for a low price. If you
want the price even lower then feel free to barter. Again, look
for products that consumers would want to buy on a place like
eBay.

Don't know what consumers would look for? Then ask yourself what
would you look for? Again, often times we concentrate on what an
imaginative consumer would want instead of what we would want,
after all we are consumers too!

*Pardon the fragmented sentence. We didn't want you to cheat by
looking ahead!
